What is the OMOTENASHI Selection?
The Omotenashi Selection is an award established in 2015 with the aim of discovering and promoting excellent Japanese products and services with a spirit of hospitality to the world. TOURER is a chukka boot designed for luxury travellers who travel the world by car or plane. It combines lightness and casualness for everyday use with an elegance that is suitable for jacket styles and the dress code of fine restaurants. NEGRONI shoes have been produced in Japan since the company's foundation, and each pair is carefully manufactured in the company's own factory, Negroni Factory Tokyo. In order to realise the brand's unique shoe manufacturing method, leathers originally developed in Japan and high-quality materials imported from Italy, France and other countries are used, and most work processes are managed in-house. This has attracted customers from Japan and abroad who demand high-quality driving shoes.
The NEGRONI brand director, as a developer of driving shoes, has to travel abroad three to four times a year. During his business trips, he sometimes drives around Europe and test drives more than 20 sports cars a day. The requirements for the TOURER were therefore walking comfort, car driving manoeuvrability and a luxurious look that could be used in casual restaurants and at parties. The shoe's distinctive topline curve design is inspired by the racing shoes of the 1960s. The unique fit, where the entire foot is wrapped in one piece of chunky leather, can only be experienced in the TOURER. In addition, the layered construction of the ultra-suede lining and leather insole pursues the easy wearing comfort that only chukka boots can offer. The thin rubber sole protects the sensation of the sole from uneven road surfaces, while the balance with the moderately resilient insole provides a relaxed barefoot feeling. Note that there is also a ‘Grand Tourer’ model with a TOURER upper and driving rubber sole, which can be worn more casually and sneaker-like. This is the perfect model for those who place more weight on driving.
